Luke Evans has teamed up with trainer Matthew Hatton as he attempts to get on the title trail after his career almost ended prematurely. Evans joined Hatton’s impressive stable after getting his career off to a perfect ten with Blain Younis training him.

Luke had his first fight under Hatton in September 2021 after a 21 month lay off and impressed when getting his first ever knockout win seeing off Denis Madry in six rounds. In his previous fight ,when he outpointed Richard Samuels in December 2021, Evans had returned after 13 months out caused when he was attacked on the street.

The prospect had his hands full when in his second fight under Hatton at Manchester Arena in April 2022 when he drew with teak tough Argentinian Miguel Cesario Antin over six rounds. Evans was sent to the canvas twice, but battled back well. He got away with a draw after his opponent was docked a point for holding after being under pressure.

The enforced break happened after he was the victim of a knife attack in early 2019. He was left with deep facial wounds and his promising career was in jeopardy. When his perpetrators were sentenced the judge praised Evans for offering to support his attackers in getting away from a life of crime.

Luke was still a teenager when he turned professional and showed title potential until his career was put on hold. But the win against decent Pole Madry showed that major belts could be landing.
