MALI WRIGHT got his professional career off to a flyer at Headingley rugby league in September 2021 forcing Antony Woolery to retire after two rounds.

He is trained by Nick Manners who has played a role in the progression of Josh Warrington’s pro career.

Mali was introduced to boxing at 16 when he loved the gym, but concentrated on weight training.

It was a further three years before he began boxing competitively and made rapid progress, that suggests his potential is real.

During his amateur career, Wright reached the English National Elite semi-finals in 2019 dropping a split decision against Ben Jarvis.

He studied finance and accounting at Leeds Beckett University.
