Nathan Bennet had a glimpse of life at the top when he mixed with Dalton Smith at
Matchroom Fight Camp in August 2020 It didn’t go to plan for Nathan as he was knocked out in five rounds. However, Bennett showed remarkable toughness that wowed fans watching on Sky.
Smith is now British champion and Nathan lost nothing in defeat even though a broken jaw sustained in the first round meant a lay-off.
He was due to meet Kane Gardner in September 2021 for the vacant Central Area title, but the fight was scrapped after Nathan tested positive for COVID-19.
There were both among the four VIP entries in the Boxxer Super-Lightweight competition in November 2021, and ironically were drawn against each other.
And, what a three round war they produced with Gardner taking the decision and fans desperate to see them again over ten rounds.
Their manager Steve Wood is eager to make that fight in early 2022 and hopes a professional title will be up for grabs. He is still hoping for that return, but kept busy in April 2022 outpointing quality journeyman Lee Connelly over four rounds.
In early July he had another outing and outpointed reliable journeyman Rustem Fatkhullin over six rounds.
Manager Steve Wood insists that Bennett will get another TV date in 2023, but kept him busy at the end of 2022 and Bennett comfortably outpointed Mykhailo Sovtus on points.He did get a chance on a TV show in March 2023, but was defeated by VIP stablemate Nathan Bennett inside two rounds.
Nathan has been a professional since November 2017 and has stoppage wins over Gary McGuire and Stu Greener on his record. He is dedicated totally to boxing and lives with partner Jodie and their two children, Callie and Annie.
