Boxing runs deep in Ryan’s family. He is the nephew of former British champion and two-time World title challenger, Jazza Dickens. He won three national amateur titles, a Tri-Nations gold and a European championship bronze at Youth level.
On his pro debut in October 2021 he used his height and reach advantages well and looked a decent fighter winning all four rounds against Danny Little. His perfect start continued in the following month, again at Liverpool Olympia when Dickens outpointed Carl Tunney.
In his first action of 2022 he outpointed popular Burnley journeyman Seamus Devlin, and followed that up with shut out wins over Josh Cook and Genadij Krajevskij.
He was side-lined for a year and returned at Liverpool’s Grand Central Hall in September 2023 and outscored Dale Arrowsmith over four rounds.
It was a disappointing start to 2024 when he was outmuscled by Serge Ambomo and dropped a points decision in his first six rounder.
He was then matched against fellow Liverpudlian Connor Goulding in a must win fight and came out on top after six ferocious rounds.
