Levi Barnes is an emerging talent in the world of boxing. He boasts a remarkable amateur career, during which he collected numerous titles and medalled in major tournaments, showcasing his potential from an early age.
Barnes made his professional debut in September 2023, shortly after celebrating his 19th birthday. He faced the seasoned Christian Lopez Flores, a fighter with 43 bouts under his belt, and emerged victorious, winning all four rounds on the referee's scorecard. His swift rise continued as he showcased his skills against Estonian fighter Dmitri Protkunas, dominating for four rounds and securing another clear points victory.
In his next fight, Barnes faced Polish boxer Marian Wesolowski, going the full six-round distance but proving to be the superior fighter in the ring. His perfectionist nature shone through when he fought Ivan Njegac at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens in March 2024. Although he won the match convincingly, he felt it fell short of his high standards.
The knockout power he had been hinting at finally materialised in May 2024 during his fifth fight, where he stopped Martin Balog in just two rounds. Balog was knocked down twice before the referee called a halt to the contest. In a follow-up bout in July 2024, Barnes continued his streak of stoppages, overpowering Richard Helm and finishing him in three rounds.
In September 2024, Barnes faced a tougher challenge against Mykhailo Sovtus. Although he was forced to go the distance, he controlled the fight, delivering relentless punishment throughout the six rounds. As Levi Barnes continues his journey, he remains a fighter to watch in the super-lightweight division, with aspirations of climbing the ranks and achieving championship glory.
