JAKE finally made his long-awaited professional debut in November 2021, winning all four rounds in a shutout points win over Josh Hodgins.

He had his second fight the following month and came through on points against veteran Kevin McAuley.

The Wayne Woods-trained southpaw made it a hat-trick in his first fight of 2022 when he outpointed clever journeyman Jordan Grannum, who is closing in on 100 fights.

His second fight of this year took place at Doncaster racecourse in May, where he comfortably outpointed Evgenii Vazem in his first six-rounder.

Jake returned there in October and had a tough night, surviving some rocky moments before deservedly outpointing dangerous Serge Ambomo over six rounds.

Proof of that came on a hometown return in February 2023 when he stopped Nicaraguan Alexander Zeledon in four rounds, dropping his opponent twice.

Shortly after that fight, he changed trainers, leaving Wayne Woods to team up with former VIP champion boxer Tommy Coyle.

In July 2023, Goodwin was on the receiving end of a shocking setback, losing 57-56 on the referee’s scorecard against unheralded Ukrainian Artem Liashevych.

This was followed by a shock two-round loss to VIP stablemate Rhys Woods and a ten-month break followed.

Goodwin returned in July 2024 with new trainer Sean O’Hagan and bounced back with a win over veteran MJ Hall.

In his amateur career, Jake was a two-time National University champion at 69kg and 75kg.
