Jake James is the first professional boxer to be trained by former World Lightweight champion Anthony Crolla. They teamed up in the summer of 2019 and the partnership has been impressive. In Jake’s first fight under Crolla, he stopped good Pole Kamil Mlodzinski in the final round and that is his stand out win so far even though it was a tough night. James suffered a serious hand injury when he registered a shutout points win against Josue Bendana December 2019 He underwent surgery from leading specialist Mike Hayton and with the COVID-19 pandemic adding to his frustration he didn’t return until June 2021.
He faced Czech Pavel Albrecht in Sheffield on a fight broadcast on FightZone and won on points, taking all four rounds. James kept busy in September on a VIP show in Bolton and easily outpointed Angel Emilov over six rounds. James turned professional in December 2017 and in his fourth fight outpointed Ben Fields who won a Midlands Area title earlier in 2020. Few would bet against James kicking on and picking uptitles in the near future certainly on his early 2022 form.He started the year with a bang making it a perfect ten as a pro, knocking out Eligio Palacios in the second round with a stunning uppercut. James extended his unbeaten record in September with a clear six rounds points win over Rustem Fatkhullin.
