Ashley made a rapid fire start to his professional career stopping experienced Darryl Pearce at the end of round one. Pearce suffered a eye injury when Marron landed a big right hand and cornerman Spencer McCracken decided to end the bout.
 

Plenty of people believe the future is bright for Marron, and he showed there in his second contest in June outpointing Dale Arrowsmith over four rounds.  As an amateur, Marron boxed for Boarshaw ABC.
